The first training course for IGCP-724 project was held
The first training course for IGCP-724 project “Fluid geochemistry and earthquake forecasting” was held online from 19th to 21st October in Institute of Earthquake of Forecasting (IEF), China Earthquake Administration (CEA).
The objective of this training course was to introduce the practical fluid geochemistry observation techniques related to earthquake prediction and the guide to earthquake scientific investigation using geochemistry methods, and enhance the capacity building of some countries in geochemical observation technology. IGCP-724 project invited geochemical scientists from China (Prof. Zhonghe Pang and Prof. Tianming Huang, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Hongbiao Gu, Institute of Disaster Prevention, Prof. Ying Li and Prof. Xiaocheng Zhou, IEF, CEA), Italy (Prof. Antonio Caracausi, National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), Iran (Prof. Mohammad Mokhtari, University of Hormozgan), and Turkey (Prof. Galip Yuce, Hacettepe University) to give the wonderful presentations.
The training course topics include fluid geochemistry sampling and analysis, relationship between seismicity and tectonic activities, and progress in the field of earthquake prediction methods and applications.
The course attracted attentions of over 130 participants joined the talks through Tencent meeting, including postgraduate students and young researchers from IEF, CEA, Institute of Disaster Prevention, China, and Hacettepe University, Turkey.
IGCP program places great emphasis on international cooperation and knowledge transfer, especially promoting international cooperation between developed and developing countries, providing training opportunities for young and female scientists. We hope more young and female scientists from developing countries join the IGCP-724 project.
