The Belt and Road International workshop on Seismic Experimental Sites held by CSES

In connection to the coordinators’ Meeting on Belt and Road Seismic Risk Reduction, organized by China Earthquake Administration(CEA) from June 11 to 12 in Beijing, CSES organized the Belt and Road International workshop on Seismic Experimental Sites, on June 13 in the Hall of Science and Technology.

 Experts from Algeria, Armenia, Cambodia, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand, Uzebikistan, and Asian Seismological Commission(ASC) attended the Workshop with active communication and discussion.

The workshop introtened the recent development of CSES and discussed prospective international cooperation associated with seismic Experimental sites. The presentations during the workshop highlighted the scientific challenges, conceptual design, scientific products, and interdisciplinary cooperation of CSES.

 The Coordinators’ Meeting decided on June 12 to establish several working group to promote the works on seismic disaster resilience. Among these working groups the Working Group on Training and Outreach is to be led by CSES, endowed by Asian Seismological Commission (ASC) and the APEC Cooperation or Earthquake Science(ACES) Project.

 CSES scholar Prof. Zhengkang Shen attended the workshop and gave a talk. Prof. Paul Tapponnier presented at the workshop and chaired a session and the panel discussion.
