IEF held Workshop on Seismic Hazard Assessment in the China Seismic Experimental Site

Institute of Earthquake Forecasting, China Earthquake Administration (IEF CEA) held the workshop on seismic hazard assessment in the China Seismic Experimental Site after the International Symposium on Deep Earth Exploration and Practices (DEEP 2018), on Saturday, October 27, 2018, in Beijing.

Invited by director of IEF, Prof. Zhongliang Wu, 4 foreign experts from Italy and Russia participated in the workshop. In the 4 presentations, Prof. Fabio Romenelli from the University of Trieste, Italy, presented “Multi-Scenario Based Seismic Hazard Assessment”; Prof. Vladimir Kossobokov from the Institute of Earthquake Prediction Theory and Mathematical Geophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) reported “Testing an earthquake prediction algorithm in real time, 1992-present”; Prof. Alexey Zavyalov from the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of the RAS discussed on “Algorithm Map of Expected Earthquakes (MEE): Summary of the 30-years Testing Worldwide and Latest Findings”; and Prof. Vladimir Kamzolkin from the Schmidt Institute of Physics of the Earth of the RAS talked about “New data on the tectonics of pre-Jurassic basement of the Greater Caucasus Fore Range zone”.

The workshop provided the multilateral sides with a good opportunity for fostering innovative ideas and productive cooperation.
